Denver weather: Near-record heat forecast for city

Temperature highs in the 80s expected most of this week in Denver, forecasts show

Several days of near-record heat and summer sun are expected to roast Denver this week, with temperatures climbing into the 80s after last week’s late-season snowstorm, according to the National Weather Service.

As of Monday morning, included highs of:

  • 85 degrees on Monday, five degrees short of the 90-degree heat record for May 11 in Denver. That record was last tied in 2022, .
  • 78 degrees on Tuesday, 12 degrees short of the 90-degree heat record for May 12 in Denver, set in 1962.
  • 89 degrees on Wednesday, one degree short of the 90-degree heat record for May 13 in Denver, set in 1915.
  • 86 degrees on Thursday, one degree short of Denver’s May 14 heat record of 87 degrees, set in 2013.
  • 84 degrees on Friday, five degrees short of the 89-degree May 15 heat record set in 1996.

Denver’s hottest May day on record was May 26, 1942, when temperatures in the city peaked at blistering 95 degrees, according to the weather service.
