Last night, the Top Taco competition in Sculpture Park was a magnet for taco fans, with about 40 restaurants competing to win.
the popular new Mexican eatery on Broadway, won in the non-traditional taco category, and for the best traditional taco — for the second year in a row.
“Itap really exciting,” said Rayme Rossello, owner of Comida, which is located in the Source artisan marketplace. “I love the event, and itap so great for us to be in front of so many people and hear their super-positive feedback.”
Their winning taco?
The crispy Pork Carnitas Taco with slow braised pork, which is on their menu.
“We serve a ton of them,” she said.
Lena’s winner is the Tacos de Mollejas, or sweetbread tacos.
Pinche Tacos won second place in the non-traditional category, and Comida took third.
When it comes to traditional tacos, North County won second and Work & Class place third.
If all this makes you hungry for tacos, there’s always the Denver Taco Festival in RiNo this weekend, with vendors ranging from Comida to the new Torchy’s Tacos.
