
Zipcar car-share members can drive for free and help a local LGBT nonprofit in honor of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision Friday legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide.
“To celebrate today specifically, all of our specially branded Pride Zipcars are free to members now through Sunday at midnight,” said company spokeswoman Katelyn Chesley. “Zipcar donates $1 per hour when members reserve a Pride-branded Zipcar.”
In Denver, donations generated by the Pride car will go to support , a center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youths.
The company’s Pride car program is ongoing in 10 U.S. cities and in Toronto. Zipcar was not able to provide the amount generated by the Pride car promotion to date.
Pride cars are identified by their rainbow-decorated wheels. Zipcar has 54 cars in Denver, including one Pride car, a Ford Focus.
