
1 Check thief arrested. A man was arrested for identity theft and other charges June 17 following a traffic stop in the area of Wadsworth Boulevard and West Second Avenue in Lakewood. The man was found in possession of stolen checks, which he had been trying to cash for money.
2 Owner thwarts car thieves. On June 28, officers responded to a report of a theft in the 2200 block of Kendall Street in Edgewater. The owner of a vehicle noticed four juveniles enter his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of his residence. When the vehicle owner walked toward his vehicle to confront the suspects, they fled in a different vehicle.
3 Shoplifter arrested. Lakewood police arrested a man June 17 for shoplifting from Sears, 10785 W. Colfax Ave. The man, who stole nearly $200 worth of items including watches, shoes and cologne, initially ran from store security but was later apprehended by police.
4 Subaru stolen. Sometime between 7:30 p.m. June 25 and 7:15 a.m. June 26, a 2001 Subaru Outback was stolen from the street in front of a residence in the 2400 block of Marshall Street in Edgewater.
5 Unfit to drive. Lakewood police arrested a man on suspicion of drunken driving June 17 in the area of West Colfax Avenue and Eaton Street. His blood alcohol content at the time was .262. He was also cited for a lack of insurance.
6 Jeep stolen in Edgewater. Sometime between 6 p.m. June 22 and 4 a.m. June 23, a 1996 green Jeep Cherokee was stolen from a parking lot in the 2200 block of Depew Street in Edgewater.
