There’s a good chance of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon in northeastern Colorado and some storms could produce hail and locally heavy downpours leading to flash flooding.
In Denver, there’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature in Denver Wednesday should be about 88 degrees.
Thunderstorms in northeastern Colorado Wednesday afternoon will be fueled by lingering moisture in the region and an unstable airmass, the weather service reports.
Strong storms will be capable of unleashing up to one inch of rain in less than 30 minutes. Street flooding is possible and fire burn scar areas will be susceptible to flooding issues, the weather service said.
Stormy weather in northeastern Colorado could continue on Thursday and Friday.
In Denver Wednesday night there’s a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m., the weather service reports. Skies should be mostly cloudy and the low temperature will drop to about 62 degrees.
On Thursday in Denver there’s a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m., and the high temperature in the city should hit 80 degrees.
Friday in the city there’s a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms, the high temperature will be 85 degrees, according to the weather service.
Independence Day, Saturday, should be mostly sunny in Denver, with a high temperature of 89 degrees.
