with her car on Aug. 11 in the 2700 block of West 72nd Avenue in Westminster after he struck her several times in the face during an argument that began in the car.

Lobato got out of the car and was run over as he was walking on the sidewalk. When police arrived, he was bleeding severely from the head and was unresponsive. Arias, who was kneeling next to him, told an officer she had just run him over.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Rhoda Pilmer told jurors during closing arguments that Arias dismissed alternatives and decided to deliberately run over her husband.

“He was no longer a threat to her,” Pilmer said. “He had walked away and was in the parking lot. She had choices, she had so many other choices, and she chose to run him over with a car that night.”

The jury returned with the convictions Friday. The trial lasted two weeks. Sentencing is scheduled Sept. 11.
