BOULDER — Student organizations at the University of Colorado may soon be contending with a very different funding scheme than in years past, thanks to a new proposal that would curtail spending to roughly one-quarter the amount allocated to clubs and groups last year.

Entering the fall semester of 2014, the CU Student Group Funding Board held a fund balance of $995,000. By spring’s end, those savings had been slashed down to less than $200,000.

Deb Coffin, vice chancellor for advancement, said administrators were “very concerned” upon learning earlier this year of the Funding Board’s over-allocation.
