Weld County authorities are investigating after more than 100 mailboxes were either damaged or destroyed near Fort Lupton early Saturday.

The county sheriff’s office says the mailbox vandalism was centered in the Aristocrat Acres neighborhood and discovered about 3:45 a.m.

“Some of the mailboxes were destroyed, while others had the mail removed from the mailboxes and scattered about,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Officials say all recovered mail will be delivered back to the U.S. Postal Service for redelivery.

“We don’t have an exact count yet,” Cpl. Sean Standridge, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said of the number of mailboxes vandalized.

Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to call sheriff’s investigators at 970-356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-444-3776.
