
Saturday-Aug. 8: The Central City Opera is shaking up its routine in major ways this season, leaving only one warhorse title on its entire schedule, “La Traviata,” and it starts Saturday. If you’re a traditionalist and a Central City fan, this is your moment for 2015. The production of Verdi’s ultimate masterpiece is directed by Elise Sandell, a newcomer to the company, with the familiar John Baril conducting. Starring as the troubled and tragic Violetta Valery is soprano Ellie Dehn, with tenor Ryan MacPherson as her love-at-all-costs suitor Alfredo Germont.
