United Airlines passengers stranded in Denver by Wednesday morning’s nationwide system outage can get a free snack while they wait, courtesy of one of the concessionaires at Denver International Airport.

Rod Tafoya, president of Mission Yogurt Inc., which operates several restaurants inside DIA’s Concourse B, said any customer who shows a timed out or delayed United boarding pass can get a free coffee, cookie or both at its Sara Lee Sandwich Shoppe, Etai’s Bakery Café or Itza Wrap Itza Bowl locations in the concourse.

United is the main airline operating from the airport’s B Concourse.

“With the nature of the airline business, we’re usually pretty prepared for these sorts of things,” Tafoya said. “We do have to be a bit more resourceful in regard to staffing, etc., but overall it shouldn’t impact our operations more than we can manage. We’re more concerned about how we can make a positive impression on customers, who are stressed out in situations like this.”
