Adams County authorities Friday evening investigated claims that ricin was being made at two locations but did not find the poison.
Both locations, 5400 Sheridan Blvd. and 5601 Federal Blvd., were cleared and have no ricin traces, said Sgt. Aaron Pataluna, spokesman for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
“We arrested somebody around noon. While he was being evaluated by medical staff, he claimed there was ricin at these two locations, which caused us to react,” Pataluna said.
Hazmat units from the FBI, the sheriff’s office and the Adams County Fire Rescue responded to the locations.
Pataluna said he was not sure whether any charges against the man who made these claims will result from the incident.
Ricin is a highly toxic poison found naturally in castor beans
