A 7-year-old boy was upgraded to serious but stable condition at Children’s Hospital Colorado after he was shot in the head, apparently accidentally while with a group of children.

No public information has been released about how the child’s brain is functioning, said Judy Judkins, Aurora police spokeswoman, on Friday.

Detectives have spoken with all of the five children — ages 7 to 12 — who were in the home at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, when the shooting happened.

“We don’t know if there will be any criminal charges,” Judkins said.

Details about the at the home at 1025 Vaughn St. remain unclear, Judkins said.

Detectives planned to search the house Friday.

“They know where they need to look,” Judkins said.

Police are determining how the children came into contact with the gun and whether there was negligence involved. A description of the gun has not been released.

There were no adults in the home, which is not where the boy lives.
