The U.S. House of Representatives Friday passed the , legislation to speed up clinical trials and invest more heavily in medical research, by a vote of 344 to 77.

The nonpartisan legislation co-authored by Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colorado, seeks to modernize the health care system, spend more on science, speed up medical innovation and better incorporate patients’ perspectives.

The bill moves on to the Senate.
