Denver has seen a lot of fashion startups lately, and one of city’s newest brands is joining an iconic label for a fashion show this weekend.
and Levi’s will present a show at 2 p.m. July 11 hosted by the Denver Theater
District at 14th and Curtis streets in The Galleria.
John Chapman founded Lawrence & Larimer with his wife Keyonna after the pair spent years “treasure hunting, thrifting and restoring clothes.” Chapman has a background in retail, working at Polo Ralph Lauren, and does wardrobe styling, personal shopping and blogging.
They found a spot in the fast-gentrifying RiNo neighborhood earlier this year, and liked its location on 27th between Larimer and Lawrence streets, hence the company name. Only after they founded the business did they delve more into the city and area’s history and liked how it dovetailed with their appreciation for vintage and classic fashion. Among their first products were T-shirts printed with the Lawrence & Larimer branding. “They sold out; we printed more and now we have our own clothing line,” he said.
Alicia Keys is a new brand ambassador for Levi’s, which is part of a fashion show July 11 in Denver.
But it’s more than T-shirts, as they offer custom designs and restorations of clothing items for men and women. They’ll present about 20 looks at the fashion show and will have items for sale afterwards online and at the store, 2701 Lawrence St. (inside Laundry).
Levi’s will be showing its new denim collection, which features a range of styles for women with different body types, including
skinny, shaping styles and curvy fits worn by such women as their new brand ambassador, singer/songwriter Alicia Keys.
Chapman said both Levi’s corporate at the Cherry Creek store are participating and the show is tied into the company’s campaign featuring musicians and celebrities. Music at the show will be provided by .
