
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — A town official in Snowmass Village has been charged with felony criminal mischief for allegedly causing thousands of dollars in damage at the Pitkin County Jail, where he was being held on suspicion of driving drunk.
The Aspen Times reports (http://goo.gl/VqXRRU ) 50-year-old Chris Jacobson, who was charged Wednesday, is accused of tearing off sections of a rubberized wall in the jail’s isolation cell, exposing electrical wiring and damaging lights after his June 26 arrest.
Sheriff Joe DiSalvo says the damage will cost between $14,000 and $15,000 to repair.
Jacobson also is accused of wrenching a restraining chair out of the ground, yelling obscenities at officers and urinating on the floor. Messages left Wednesday for Jacobson and his attorney were not returned.
Jacobson is due in court July 28.
