DENVER (AP) — Nearly two dozen firefighters from Denver and one crew from the National Park Service based in Estes Park have been sent to battle wildfires in Canada.

Denver Fire Department Lt. Derrick Delgado tells KMGH-TV (http://tinyurl.com/oev2rvw) that 21 Denver firefighters are scattered around in several locations.

Canada is currently experiencing an above-normal fire season. The two provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta are trying to put out nearly 2,000 wildfires.
