With the Demaryius Thomas deal ironed out, the Broncos took aim at an issue that hung over the negotiations this week: the NFL Players Association’s charge that the Broncos and Dallas Cowboys colluded over the previously unresolved contracts of Thomas and Dez Bryant.
“The suggestion that our club may have colluded with another team about a negotiation is completely false and without merit,” the Broncos said in a statement released to The Post.
This represents the Broncos’ first public comment on the issue since the NFLPA notified the teams it was considering filing a claim.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones concurred with the Broncos’ statement, , “We did not in any way have any collusion” with Denver.
It is unclear if the NFLPA will move forward with its charge because Thomas and Bryant agreed in principle to contracts Wednesday.
When reached for comment Wednesday, the union said it “has no further information at this time.”
Thomas agreed to a five-year, $70-million contract with $35 million fully guaranteed over the first two seasons. Bryant signed a five-year, $70-million deal with a $20-million signing bonus.
