The Broncos had plenty to celebrate Wednesday.

Hours after , the spotlight turned to Peyton Manning.

Manning’s surpassing of Brett Favre with career touchdown No. 509 last season was named the of the past year by ESPY voters.

The Broncos’ quarterback beat out Devin Hester, for career runback touchdowns; Lauren Chamberlain, for NCAA softball home runs; and Warriors guard Klay Thompson, for points in a quarter, to receive the award.

“I’m truly blessed to be able to play the game of football,” Manning said, “and I humbly accept this award.

Manning first thanked his daughter, Mosley, for being his date for the evening and then turned to Favre, Mosley’s “babysitter” and a player Manning called “an unbelievably durable player, a great passer, a great quarterback and an even greater competitor.
