At School House Kitchen in Arvada, they take the theme to the limit. (Photo by William Porter)
School House Kitchen in Arvada, which we , works its school theme to the hilt, from the bartop covered with No. 2 Dixon pencils, to the card catalog fronting that same counter, to globes and bookshelves, desks dangling from the ceiling, to the tabletops in the main dining room repurposed from gym floors.
The same vibe extends to the restrooms. In the men’s room, a Bart Simpson-style chalkboard “punishment” for the recalcitrant: “I WILL NOT PEE ON THE SEAT.” The women’s room, I’m told, is adorned with “I WILL NOT PASS NOTES IN CLASS.”
It’s a grin. And given that the restaurant is housed in the town’s former one-room schoolhouse, absolutely appropriate.
