Citizens rally last October against three Jeffco school board members. (Denver Post file)
Re: “In defense of Jeffco school board recall,” July 12 My Turn column.
The Denver Post got it right in its July 1 editorial on the Jefferson County school board recall efforts by a churlish few. Elections have consequences and, with very few exceptions, should not be overturned by recall process. Through bombast, hyperbole and outright distortion, Wendy R. McCord, Tina Gurdikian and Michael Blanton (the three Jeffco parents who submitted the Jeffco recall petition) exposed themselves for what they are: spoiled brats who stomp their feet and hold their breath when they don’t get their way. Their claims that the three-person majority on the board are guilty of malfeasance, corruption and glaring incompetence are so over-the-top that the words themselves beg for all caps. A simple glance in the dictionary is all thatap needed to disarm those claims.
They did get one thing right. The stakes are high. And thatap why they’re not to be taken seriously.
