Eli Barcelon, Eli is preceeded in death by his son Andy. He’s survived by Stella, Christine & Richard Barg, Jaime-Lynne & Noel Troost and great granddaughter Emerson Troost. Robert Behrman, 1922 2015 Judge Robert A. Behrman died on July 16, 2015 in Denver. He was born to Charles and Cecilia Behrman on January 5, 1922 in Casper, Wyoming. He moved with his parents to Greeley where his parents operated Behrman’s Ladies Ready-to-Wear store in downtown Greeley. Judge Behrman served as a military intelligence officer during and after World War II in China and Japan, becoming fluent in both Mandarin and Japanese. He received his undergraduate education at Yale University and received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1950, returning to practice law as a solo practitioner in an office located above his parent’s store. The store’s long term sales clerk became Judge Behrman’s lifetime assistant, Shirley Stow, working first as his secretary and later as his Division Clerk. He served as a part time Deputy District Attorney in the early 1950’s, before there was even a full time district attorney in Weld County. Judge Behrman was appointed as a District Court Judge in the late 1960’s and was later appointed as Chief Judge for the 19th Judicial District in Weld County as well as the Division I Water Judge in 1978, serving in such capacity until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement, he enjoyed the Colorado Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, and extensive foreign travel. Judge Behrman was a member of the Weld County Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, American Bar Association and prestigious American Law Institute. He was a lifetime member of the Beth Israel Congregation in Greeley. A graveside service will be held at 12:30PM on Sunday at Mount Nebo Memorial Park. Heyer, PAULENE GRAVES 9/16/1925-7/5/2015 Paulene Graves Heyer born to Walter and Anna Grace Graves on September 16, 1925 in Hollis, Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma public schools, earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, and taught music in Oklahoma for several years before moving to Denver. Paulene was a volunteer for the Junior Symphony Guild, Sewell House, Tables Extraordinaire, the Denver Art Museum and many other non-profit organizations. She was employed by the Boettcher Foundation for 23 years during which she became a member of the Executive Women International in 1968 and served as president of the local chapter. Upon retiring she became a sustaining member remained so until her death. She was an avid Bronco and Rockies fan and was also a passionate Bridge player in the same club since 1959. She is preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) W. Heyer, and survived by her children Becky Frazer, Jill (David) Baty, Laurie Atkinson, Jamie (Gerd) Noebel and Peter Heyer, and Grandchildren: Amanda, Jillian & Angela Baty; Katie & Christian Atkinson; Gunnar & Annie Noebel; and Natalie & Jack Heyer; and niece Francis Anne Cook and daughter Leigh Ann and families. Gregg Ernest Schenck, 3/13/1954 6/30/2015 Gregg is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary; mother, Dorothy; brother, John (DeDé); step-children, Kerrie (Dennis), Renee (Leroy) and Coy; several nieces and nephews. A service honoring his life will be held at Applewood Baptist Church, July 18, 1pm, 11200 W. 32nd Ave., Wheat Ridge.
Frank Mayer died peacefully on July 15, 2015, in Colorado Springs, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Claudette; his seven children, Kathleen Mayer and her husband, Ben Letterhos, of Denver; Kimberly Mayer Simpson and her husband, Kevin, of Parker; Kevin Mayer, of Colorado Springs; Kurt Mayer, of Providence, R.I.; Kyle Bartolo and her husband, Mike, of Rocky Ford; Bridget Lyman and her husband, Ted, of Los Alamos, N.M.; Adam Mayer and his wife, Robyn, of Denver; a nephew, Michael Sutherland, of Centennial; and seven grandchildren: Colin, Zachary, Andrew, Samantha, Henry, Jackson and Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelia Evans Mayer and Karl Leonard Mayer, and his first wife, Jean Wibel Mayer. Frank was born in Denver, Colorado on April 29, 1929. He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and Regis High School, and he graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served as a lieutenant in the Air Force from 1951-1953, working on development of the ramjet engine at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. He enjoyed a wide-ranging career as an engineer specializing in thermodynamics, working on projects ranging from the manufacture of heat-shielding porcelain for aeronautical use to development of a prototype driverless rapid-transit system. Frank cast off the corporate yoke and bought the Western Hills Motor Hotel and the Dutch Oven restaurant on South Nevada Avenue in 1971, moving his family from Denver to Colorado Springs. For the next five years, the Mayers managed and worked in the businesses, a memorably educational experience filled with characters whose stories the family still relate. Frank lived an exciting and fulfilling life, racing cars and piloting hot air balloons in his free time. He took his family on countless camping trips and had a longstanding love of the open road, especially when it went through the mountains or into the Southwest. He enjoyed working with wood and crafted several projects for his children and grandchildren. He was a dog lover and always happy to be around one of his Newfoundlands. He will be dearly missed. There will be a visitation at Swan-Law at 501 N. Cascade, Monday, July 20 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church at 9 El Pomar Rd., Tuesday, July 21 at 10:00 AM.
