Read Intuit’s letter: Intuit notifies Colorado that it is closing its Douglas County call center.

The company behind QuickBooks, and TurboTax confirmed Monday that it is shutting down its Douglas County call center and laying off 59 employees.

Intuit’s facility, at 365 Inverness Way, will close August 24, 2015, said Diane C. Carlini, an Intuit spokesperson. While the location has a mailing address of Englewood, it is technically in Douglas County.

The closure is related to earlier news of a company-wide realignment for the Mountain View, Calif. company, which was first reported by TechCrunch on June 26. jobs, or 5 percent of its 8,000-employee workforce.

Workers at the Douglas County facility were notified June 25 and the company filed a WARN notice, or the . WARN notices are required when companies shut down a plant or facility. The Denver call center closing was .

According to the WARN notice letter, the bulk of Intuit’s Denver-area jobs are in sales.

“Specific to Colorado, our One Intuit ecosystem strategy is a direct reflection of the demands from our customers that unfortunately is also affecting how we staff for our sales and support functions. This required hard but necessary changes, which we’re sad to say included the loss of 58 employees and the closure of our Englewood office (effective August 24),” Carlini said.

However, not all employees will lose their job. Some in the sales group will transition to remote status, she added.

Last year, Intuit had another wave of job cuts. In Denver, the company let go of at least 8 employees, according to a WARN notice. Company wide, Intuit because of a , according to Zacks Equity Research. Zacks said Intuit faced increased competition from other payroll services but its focus on QuickBooks and small business was a “positive factor.”

Intuit had a rough tax season with TurboTax. Consumers after the company moved some tax features to more expensive versions of the software. TurboTax also ran into after states reported an increase in falsified tax returns.

In its , Intuit praised the growth of its small business products, like QuickBooks, which grew its online subscribers by 55 percent. But in its consumer-product group, the company took a $263 million “goodwill impairment” charge due to bill-payment changes.
