Interview with Felicia Gallegos and Monica Lopez, owners
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: We’ve both been in the hair business for more than 25 years, and we worked together for the past 10 years. We decided to branch out on our own.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: We go above and beyond for our customers, and they become like family. We will go the extra mile to service our customers when they become ill or injured, or just need a special housecall. Our business has a warm and welcoming atmosphere so everyone can feel at home.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: Having the ability to make customers look good and feel good about themselves.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: We are a new barbershop in this area, so our biggest challenge is building a new clientele base. We are working hard on letting the public know that this is a new shop and we are a family barbershop. Our goal is to keep the mom-and-pop barbershops going — we pride ourselves on that.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: People might be surprised that we are female barbers; sometimes, customers come in and expect to see male barbers. They do like the idea that we do hot shaves and can give an excellent flattop.
