Interview with Christine Gaber, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: Like other thrifty moms, I have resold my daughter’s clothing online for the past 10 years to help pay for new ones. I also am an experienced software developer, so, for years, I have wanted to create my own online children’s consignment store. As Twigs’ new owner, it allows me to combine the two into a valuable service to the community.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: As a consignment seller and buyer, I know that prices must be fair. This is how I satisfy consigners — who want their belongings sold quickly — and shoppers, who want a good deal. But my biggest value may be that selling and shopping are ongoing 24/7 — during the hours the store is open and online all the time. Customers can pick up online purchases at the store or have them shipped. There are more than 300 items for sale online at with new items added daily. Visitors can also learn about consignment policies as well as store events and news.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: I know I’m helping families save money when they shop at Twigs. And sellers are earning money for things they no longer need. I visit with wonderful people every day and interact with their children, which I just love!

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Persuading local buyers to shop in Evergreen rather than driving down the hill. It’s important because shopping here supports our families, neighbors and community. And I think a lot of foothills residents would be surprised at Twigs’ on-target prices and varied inventory. More than 2,400 additional items have come into the shop in two months. As well as children’s school and play clothing, there are birthday and baby shower gifts, holiday wear, costumes, sports clothing and equipment, jewelry, books, games and toys.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: My family and I have lived in Evergreen for 14 years. My husband actually grew up in Evergreen, and his father and mother live here also. Our daughter attends the same elementary school my husband did 40 years ago. I am determined to keep it a friendly, money-saving local store where families want to shop first.
