Nolan Arenado, the Rockies’ all-star third baseman, was removed with a hand injury in the ninth inning Saturday at Coors Field. He was hit by a Johnny Cueto fastball in .

In the seventh, with two outs, Cueto pegged Arenado on the left hand with a 96-mph fastball. Arenado grabbed his hand and paused outside the batters box. Rockies head athletic trainer Keith Dugger and manager Walt Weiss ran out to check on him

They walked him to first base and he stayed in the game. But it was his last at-bat.

Michael McKenry pinch-hit for Arenado in the ninth with two runners on.

Post-game X-Rays on Arenado’s hand were negative, Weiss said.

“His hand started swelling up and we wanted to get him out,” Weiss said.

Arenado’s singled in the second inning was , who went eight strong in rolling over the Rockies.

“In the first, he threw fastballs at 89-90 mph. Then later on, it’s 96,” Weiss said of Cueto. “It’s a wide range. Tough to feel him up.”
