Spotlight on Marcelo Sarvas:

The Brazilian midfielder will make his first appearance against the Galaxy, which he helped win two MLS Cups. Sarvas, 33, made 88 appearances with the Galaxy from 2012-14, contributing nine goals and 19 assists. He was traded to the Rapids before this season but missed the first matchup of these teams while recovering from knee surgery. He has been a starter in the Rapids’ past seven MLS games, playing the full 90 minutes in three of the past four.

NOTEBOOK

Rapids: Colorado (5-9-6) has won three consecutive matches, including its first-ever victory at Seattle.  The Rapids took maximum points in July, and now try for their first four-match win streak since 2003. Drew Moor and Sam Cronin each played 45 minutes in the MLS All-Star Game this week.  Gabriel Torres returns from international duty with Panama.

Galaxy:  Los Angeles (9-7-7) will make a change at goalkeeper, going with Donovan Ricketts. He was acquired in a trade with Orlando City SC this week. The Galaxy and goalkeeper Jaime Penedo mutually parted ways. Ricketts was between the pipes in 2011 when the Galaxy won MLS Cup.  Striker Robbie Keane and midfielder Steven Gerrard are questionable for Saturday’s match because of injuries.  Gyasi Zardes, Juninho and Omar Gonzalez each played 45 minutes for the Pablo Mastroeni-coached MLS all-stars.  Los Angeles leads the Rapids 34-24-8 all time. The Rapids are 17-11-5 at home against L.A.
