A man pulled out of Cherry Creek near downtown Denver early Saturday morning has died, police said.

The man was spotted in the river near 1331 Speer Boulevard at 5:15 a.m., said Raquel Lopez, a Denver police spokeswoman. It was reported to police as a possible drowning.

He was transported to a hospital but later pronounced dead, the city’s police department at 5:40 p.m.

The death is not expected to be suspicious but the police are waiting on the Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death, Lopez said.
