Arapahoe County District Attorney George Brauchler leaves district court on Feb. 27, 2014, after a status hearing for James Holmes, who was recently convicted of 165 counts in the Aurora theater shooting. (RJ Sangosti, Denver Post file)

Re: “Conviction of James Holmes in Aurora theater shooting trial ,” July 26 letters to the editor.

Two of four letters chosen for last Sunday’s Open Forum regarding the conviction of James Holmes clearly disparage District Attorney George Brauchler. One letter suggests he sees himself as a “hot-shot cowboy” and the other implies his political goals are his priority. Another letter criticizes the endless time and money it takes to run appeals. The last reminds us of the “Hickenlooper Effect” in delaying executions. All have their points.

How about a huge hurrah and congratulations from a moderate Democrat for District Attorney George Brauchler for bringing a killer to justice. Thank you.
