1 Memorial misunderstood. Golden police went to the area of West and Sequoia streets July 21 on a report that a man was standing in his front yard with firearms, claiming to be military. Police found him to be cooperative and the guns to be fake. He said he intended to pose at attention with his rifles as a memorial to Marines killed in Tennessee, but agreed he did not give his actions proper thought. He was cleared of any crime and asked police for a recommendation letter for the Army.

2 CenturyLink cables cut. A CenturyLink employee reported July 24 that cables supplying service to nearly 400 customers appeared to be deliberately cut. He said the underground cables in the area of South Foxton Road and U.S. 285 were exposed by recent rains and damaged, then the replacement cables were cut before crews could replaced eroded soil.

3 Unhappy camper. Jeffco deputies ordered a woman to leave the campground at Wellington Lake (not on map) after her fellow camper reported that she became erratic and wielded a stick. The two parties, both mothers, said the situation escalated when the suspect criticized the reporting party’s kids’ food and accused her of assaulting her daughter with a hug.

4 Trespasser arrested. A homeless man was arrested after trespassing at The Place, 27886 Meadow Drive, Evergreen. The reporting party said he tried giving the suspect shower access in exchange for work, but the suspect repeatedly entered the building after operating hours, setting off the alarm. The suspect yelled at and hit the reporting party but did not cause harm.
