Re: “Former RTD director: Don’t get rid of buses on 16th Street Mall,” July 31 Open Forum.
It is time to make the 16th Street Mall a pedestrian space. This summer, the “Meet in the Street” program has shown us what that would be like: Kids playing on grass. Spacious patio dining. Space for bands and dancing. Transforming the mall into this type of space full-time would make it a place where people want to be, rather than just a route to somewhere else.
I love the free Mall Ride buses as much as any Denverite, but they would work just as well going up 17th and down 15th.
Letap make the heart of our city the envy of the rest of the country. Letap reserve the 16th Street Mall for people on foot.
