in Globeville has its first resident: of Denver.
Empire, a specialty distributor of tool, manufacturing and packaging supplies, will move its Denver headquarters into the new , developer Trammell Crow Co. announced late last week.
A 61,870-square-foot facility is being built on a 4.8-acre site for Empire, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2016. The building, at the corner of East 55th Avenue and Lincoln Street, will feature a larger showroom while also accommodating the company’s corporate offices, light assembly and distribution, Trammell Crow said.
Empire owner Bill Spicer said his company had been looking to move from its current location at 1710 Platte St. for the last 5-8 years. Founded in 1952, Empire also has locations in Parker, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Frederick and Layton, Utah, according to its website.
Construction began in late July on the first three buildings in Crossroads Commerce Park, totaling 640,000 square feet in speculative light-industrial space. At full build-out, the 77-acre park will house up to 10 distribution, warehouse and light-manufacturing facilities equaling up to 1 million square feet. Empire is the first built-to-suit resident.
“We are pleased to welcome Empire Staple Co. to Crossroads Commerce Park, and we are confident the park will provide them with the environment they need to serve existing and new customers throughout the Rocky Mountain region,” said Bill Mosher, senior managing director of Trammell Crow’s Denver office, in a statement.
Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the seller in the land sale. Colorado Business Bank is the construction lender, Murray & Stafford the general contractor and Ware Malcomb the architect, according to Trammell Crow.
