Peaches are serious business in Colorado, as anyone from Palisade can tell you. It’s all the more heartening that the 16th annual Lafayette Peach Festival is promising 30,000 pounds of the stuff straight from that vaunted location — all certified organic. The free event features the usual festival diversions, such as arts and crafts, antiques, food booths, free face painting, kids activities (some fees apply) and live music. But the dizzying array of peach-related offerings — including 4,500 servings of warm peach cobbler, 500 peach pies with crumb topping and 80 individual pans of peach cobbler available for purchase — show its heart remains in the right (and incredibly juicy) place. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 15 along Public Road in Old Town Lafayette. 303-666-9555 or .
