An “out of control” hospital patient was arrested in Colorado Springs after he menaced staff members and climbed up into a suspended ceiling mechanical space, police said.

The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Medical Center, 6001 E. Woodman Road, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.

Police said Johnny Solis, 32, of Colorado Springs, menaced staff members and security guards with a metal tee bar. He then knocked out ceiling tiles and climbed into the ceiling structure.

When officers arrived, Solis refused to come down, police said.

Solis allegedly damaged electrical and plumbing work while in the ceiling space. An officer had to climb up after him to get Solis to come down, police said.

Solis was treated for minor injuries. When released from the hospital he will charged with felony menacing, police said.
