The Nuggets have reached an agreement with Joey Dorsey on a buyout, freeing the forward to sign with another team as a free agent.
Dorsey was acquired by the Nuggets as part of the trade that sent former starting point guard Ty Lawson to the Houston Rockets in July. With Dorsey not on the roster, the Nuggets are down to 14 players with guaranteed contracts.
Guard Erick Green had a partial guarantee of $100,000, which he collected Aug. 1. Meanwhile, forward Kostas Papanikolaou’s 2015-16 salary of about $4.7 million becomes guaranteed Oct. 4.

Dorsey, a 6-foot-8, 268-pound forward, has spent four seasons in the NBA, averaging 2.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game with three teams.
Preseason schedule. The Nuggets will open their preseason Oct. 2 at the Clippers in Los Angeles and will host the Chicago Bulls at the Coors Events Center in Boulder as part of their seven-game schedule. They will have one preseason game at the Pepsi Center, against the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 16.
