Rookie first baseman Greg Bird is beginning to take flight with the Yankees.

The former Grandview High School star belted not one, but two home runs against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday.

launched a 356-foot shot off Minnesota’s Ervin Santana into right field in the bottom of the fourth inning for his first-ever major league home run, giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

Two innings later, he connected on a 415-foot blast to deep right center to drive in two more runs to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead. New York was leading 4-3 in the top of the seventh.

Since starting his major-league career 1-for-9, he’s gone on a 5-for-8 tear over the last three games, hitting .625 with a double, two homers and five RBIs.
