This week, the tear-smeared face of Denver’s Anthony Kerrigone became internet famous. He’s . He’s the guy that Dave Grohl somewhat jokingly brought on stage and sang to. He’s a legend, and every legend has a story.

Was it joy? Sadness? Drunken emotions? Why did Kerrigone cry at a Foo Fighters concert? The answer is actually pretty touching.

Kerrigone wasn’t drunk, he was mourning the loss of his mother, he

“We got back about 10 days ago from burying my mom in the south of France,” “I am her and she’s in me.”

When Grohl saw Kerrigone crying during “My Hero,” he brought the man on stage for a face-to-face serenade. Grohl was made aware of the gravity of the tear-jerking scene and has since kept in touch with Kerrigone.
