Am taking an informal poll of Class 5A football coaches as I run down previews … and it’s interesting.
I’m asking if coaches are for a 16-team playoff bracket or if they want to keep the current 32-team thing. It’s kind of dependent on what happnes with league outlays.
So far, the results have been worth listening to and talking about, and about the only thing I’m sure of to this point is this — don’t count on the waterfall layout to pass automatically with a rubber stamp and without opposition.
Breaking down the leagues by results in order to legislate more of a parityy play may have seemed like a good idea after two years of thinking about it, but keeping the tradional rivalries, avoiding travel and maintaining football leagues at least close to what other sports offer apparently is making a late comeback.
