A man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a vehicle pursuit with Denver Police on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The fatality occurred at 3:56 p.m. after the unidentified suspect crashed his vehicle at Smith Road and Dahlia Street in Denver, said Doug Schepman, a spokesman for the Denver Police Department.
The incident began as a domestic dispute, Schepman said, adding that Denver Police received a call at 11:38 a.m. indicating the man was armed and making threats against another person.
“We were trying to locate this person throughout the early afternoon,” he said. “(The suspect) who was suicidal and making threats, was armed.”
The speeds were varied throughout the pursuit and no other injuries occurred, Schepman said.
The incident remains under investigation, he said, adding that additional details may not be available later Saturday night.
