Re: “Two women pass Army Ranger School, first female graduates,” Aug. 19 news story.

Congratulations to Capt. Kristen Griest and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver, who are among the first women to be allowed in U.S. Army Ranger school, and are the first women who completed it. They deserve to be in whatever jobs they seek in the military. Thank you to them for representing the hopes, dreams and strengths of women. They are pioneers. I am honored to have these two women (as well as the men who completed it) protect our country. I wish them the best.

Laurie L. Cole, Aurora
