A tense overnight standoff in Lakewood ended Monday with a man suspected of shooting another in the leg in custody after SWAT negotiators spent the night convincing him to surrender.
The incident began with reports of shots fired near Carr Street and West 14th Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. Sunday.
At the scene police found a man who had been shot in the leg inside a recreational vehicle, said Lakewood Det. Timmy Marquez.
The man was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. The SWAT team began negotiating with the suspect inside the RV, Marquez said.
“He eventually just came out,” at about 6 a.m.
Police haven’t identified either the suspect or victim.
