Spotlight on Erick “Cubo” Torres

The Rapids targeted the Mexican international striker last offseason when his former club, Chivas USA, was dissolved. Torres, 22, later signed with Houston after a club-record transfer fee, and he was loaned to Chivas Guadalajara of Liga MX for the spring season. He scored 15 goals in 29 games last season for Chivas USA and debuted for the Mexican national team in September, scoring his first goal for El Tri a month later. He has yet to score in five substitute stints for Houston.
