KEENSBURG — Eight African lions, two lynx, a mountain lion and a coyote are now settling in to their new home at the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keensburg, Colorado.

The menagerie came from Mexico last night aboard a twin-turboprop Mexican military aircraft.

The sanctuary says that the eight lions were malnourished and weak, but will soon be nursed back to health.

“Many are young, being under 3 years in age, so they will be able to recover and have wonderful lives here for the next two decades,” the sanctuary wrote.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary is located at 1946 County Road 53 in Keenesburg. One-time visits can cost $50 per person, but detailed information about how to visit is available on the .
