A doctor visiting Colorado helped deliver a baby Friday in a mini-van on the side of Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs.

A police sergeant was flagged down by a man at about 6:35 p.m. who said his wife was having a baby, the Colorado Springs Police Department blotter reports.

About the same time, a passerby stopped and asked if she could help.

The baby, Katriana, was born at about 6:40 p.m.
in the front seat of the van near North Academy Boulevard, according to the blotter.

The good Samaritan was identified by police as Dr. Miller, a pediatrician with Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Miller is visiting her daughter for Parents Week at the Air Force Academy.

Katriana and her mother, Amanda Evanson, were tended to by Miller until emergency responders arrived. They were then taken to a local hospital.
