
A former Commerce City elementary school teacher was ordered Friday to stand trial on 13 charges of sexual assault on a child, officials said.
and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust concerning a sixth victim, according to a 17th Judicial District Attorney news release.
The charges, filed after a lengthy investigation by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division in 2013, allege that Trujillo, 65, sexually assaulted six girls between 2004 and 2011 when they were students at the elementary school, the release said.
The victims were 9- and 10-years old.
The allegations of sexual assault, based on several interviews with former students, include fondling, kissing and “grinding.”
Trujillo told detectives he considers himself “a father figure” and that he was singled out by former principals who were either “spiteful” or “racist.”
Trujillo will be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 20 in Adams County District Court, the release said.
He is being held on a $200,000 bond.
