A gas leak in Sheridan has prompted road closures as authorities work to cap it.

The leak started when a contractor repairing a sinkhole in the area of Dartmouth Avenue and Zuni Street hit a 3-inch gas line, said Sheridan Chief of Police Mark Campbell.

Police and fire authorities are on the scene, diverting traffic until the leak is fixed.

“Drivers will probably be inconvenienced for the next hour or two,” Campbell said.
