SNOWMASS VILLAGE — A woman walking home alone in Snowmass Village early Wednesday morning was raped by a man who attacked her from behind, Snowmass Police Chief Brian Olson said Thursday.
“I’m extremely concerned,” Olson said. “I know the community will be equally concerned. I’m not ready to say we have a predator out there. We still have an extremely safe community.”
Olson declined to release many details of the attack Thursday, saying officers were still interviewing the victim and investigating the incident.
The woman told police she was walking home between 1:30 and 2:05 a.m. from a friend’s house in Snowmass Village along Brush Creek Road near Divide Road when a man came up behind her on foot and attacked her, according to a statement released by Snowmass Village Police.
“We have never had an anonymous attack like this before,” Olson said.
