Colorado Springs police arrested a 35-year-old woman late Sunday after she allegedly hammered a man in the head in what investigators say was a case of domestic violence.

Monica Cain is being held at the El Paso County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.

Officers were called about 10:30 p.m. to the 4U Motel at 1102 S. Nevada Ave. on reports of domestic violence when the found the man with a hammer injury to his head.

“The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment and is expected to survive his injuries,” police said.
