Police are investigating a shooting at an RTD light rail station on the Auraria Campus near downtown Denver Wednesday night.

A Denver Police Department Twitter post, at about 10:35 p.m., said the shooting happened at 1250 5th Street, which is on the Auraria Higher Education Center campus.

More than a dozen police officers responded to the scene.

The Auraria West station and parking lot have been cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape but light rail service continues on the line, which is close to campus housing.

According to Denver Police Sgt. Lex Jorge, two groups got into a “disagreement” while riding the light rail. They got off at the Auraria West station and the shooting occurred on the platform.

One person was injured and taken to Denver Health Medical Center. The victim is listed in stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Police did not comment on any suspects or whether or not anyone was taken into custody.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
