The Interior Department has to keep a northwestern Colorado coal mine open.
The federal Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement announced Friday that Assistant Interior Secretary Janice Schneider approved the mining plan for Tri-State Generation’s Colowyo mine near Craig.
