Spotlight on Vicente Sanchez
The Uruguayan has been a key player in the Rapids’ resurgence, starting eight of the last nine matches. Colorado has six wins in that span. In the last game, Sanchez posted his second two-assist game since joining MLS. But with the midweek game on turf, it’s unknown whether the 35-year-old will play. “Vicente’s been very good for us,” coach Pablo Mastroeni said. “And that level of expectation is going to be standard moving forward for him and for the guys jumping into that position if he’s not playing.”
NOTEBOOK
Rapids
Colorado (8-9-9) is in ninth place in the Western Conference, seven points shy of the sixth and final playoff spot, with a game in hand. The Rapids have owned the Whitecaps this year and try for their first-ever season sweep of Vancouver. However, the Rapids will probably be without Kevin Doyle, Maynor Figueroa and Dillon Serna (international duty), Luis Solignac (hamstring), Axel Sjoberg and Drew Moor (suspension).
WATCH:
Whitecaps
Vancouver (14-10-3) has lost two of its last three matches but still sits a single point out of first place in the Western Conference and the Supporter Shield race. Vancouver will be without Matias Laba and Kendall Waston (suspension).
